New students and introduction participants are both in a new life situation. For many, moving to a new place can be a challenge, leaving your safe environments.
New students = People who just moved out for the first time to study. Introduction participants = Former asylum seekers who have received a residential permit and are now attending an introduction program. *Post Covid-19
Velbekomme offers a place where people can meet, using food as a unifying factor. In this service they can socialize, share experiences and knowledge at a local cooking-event. Based on their situations, new students and introduction participants may benefit from each other, but do not necessarily have a natural meeting place today. Velbekomme’s cooking events take place in school kitchens which are available most nights and are equipped for learning purposes. By use of visual elements, the service, among other things, aims to include and integrate participants who don't have the Norwegian language in place. In addition this may also help those who lack experience with cooking in the kitchen. Feeling included and learning from each other can make a huge difference.
